May, May 3, 2021 - Severe weather is expected to move into Sequoyah County late this afternoon, bringing with it the possibility of thunderstorms, large hail and even tornadoes, Emergency Management Director Steve Rutherford said Monday.
Rutherford said the county is directly in the path of a weather system expected to ramp up about sundown and end around midnight.
“We just want everyone to be aware that the threat is out there for some really bad weather tonight,” he said. There is an 80 percent chance of severe weather tonight, according to the National Weather Service in Tulsa.
Be sure to tune into The Mix 105.1 for live up-to-the-minute weather coverage. The Sequoyah County Emergency Management Facebook and Twitter pages are also updated frequently, Rutherford said.
