Wednesday, April 19, 2023 - Deputies with the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant April 3 at a Muldrow man’s home that turned up evidence of drug activity and led to the arrest of the homeowner.
On April 12, Anthony “Butch” Williams, 52, pleaded innocent to two felony charges: unlawful possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
If convicted on the drug charge, Williams could face up to 5 years in the Department of Corrections and a fine of up to $20,000. A conviction on the firearm charge could add another 10 years in prison for Williams.
When deputies arrived at the home, they secured the property and detained all but one of the people who were at the home. According to the probable cause affidavit, Michael Spoon ran from the home and into the woods. Police later learned Spoon had an active felony warrant.
A search of the home turned up a safe in a bedroom closet. Inside the safe, law enforcement found three plastic baggies, each containing a white, crystalline substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. The weight of drugs in the three baggies was 12 grams.
Also in the safe was a fully loaded MP 9mm pistol, and deputies discovered Williams’ wallet, containing his driver’s license and $255 in cash. Another $600 was found in the safe, along with three bank withdrawal slips for $200 each. The money had been taken from a checking account on the morning the warrant was served on Williams.
According to the affidavit, deputies also found a working set of digital scales along with a bag containing about 4 grams of suspected meth under Williams’ pillow. Above Williams’ bed, there was another bag of a similar substance that weighed about half a gram.
Near Williams’ closet, deputies also discovered three long rifles. One of the rifles, a .410 single-shot shotgun had been reported stolen out of Sequoyah County.
Williams was released on $20,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. May 24.
