Failed field sobriety test leads to arrest


Wednesday, March 22, 2023 - Frederick Lee Clark 53, of Sallisaw was charged March 6 with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.


The DUI count is punishable by a fine of up to $2,500 and up to 5 years in prison. or a minimum of 28 days of treatment followed by 30 days of aftercare at the defendant's expense.


On March 5, a police officer received a phone call from another officer saying he was in pursuit of a black Hyundai Sonata, reporting that the man driving the car appeared intoxicated. The vehicle was traveling westbound on West Cherokee. The officer began pursuing the suspect, Clark, who was now driving very slowly. The man was subsequently arrested.


The officer was able to stop Clark and he began to administer field sobriety tests, which he reportedly failed. His blood alcohol was .17, according to the affidavit filed in the case.


Clark was then arrested and taken to the Sallisaw Police Department.
