Tuesday, July 20, 2021 - The administrator of Northeastern Health System – Sequoyah said Monday that COVID-19 is “running rampant again.”
Stephanie Six described the situation as “heartbreaking” as she spoke during the weekly meeting of the Board of Sequoyah County Commissioners.
Steve Rutherford, the county's emergency management director, said that two weeks ago, there were only 17 active cases in the county. This week, he said, there are 50 active cases.
Nationwide, Oklahoma and Arkansas are among the latest “hot spots” for the Delta variant, and vaccination rates there are among the lowest in the country as well.
Six urged people to get vaccinated as soon as possible. “It's real, guys.”
