Candidate filing begins today for municipal offices


Monday, February 6, 2023 - Candidates interested in filing for municipal office in five Sequoyah County municipalities will file Declarations of Candidacy beginning today at 8 a.m.


Cindy Osborn Secretary of the Sequoyah County Election Board, said Declaration of Candidacy forms must be completed and submitted to the County Election Board no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 8 when the filing period ends.


Osborn reminds voters that Contests of Candidacy must be filed no later than Friday, February 10 and may only be filed by another candidate for that office, unless a candidate files unopposed.


Declarations of Candidacy will be accepted for the following offices:


Town of Gore, Ward, #1, #3, #5

Town of Muldrow, Ward, #1. #3, #5

Town of Paradise Hills, 2 Trustees (4yr)

Town of Roland, Ward #1,#3, #5 (Town Clerk/Treasurer)

Town of Vian, 3 Trustees (4yr)


Declaration of Candidacy forms can be downloaded from the State Election Board website at oklahoma.gov/elections or by contacting your County Election Board office at 918-775-2614 or Sequoyahcounty@elections.ok.gov.


The Sequoyah County Election Board is located at 110 E Creek Ave and is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday thru Friday.
