Thursday, September 9, 2021 - Women who love the outdoors will find an experience that's right up their alley Nov. 5-7 at Tenkiller State Park in Vian.
The free 2021 Women in the Outdoors (WITO) educational program for women and girls age 14 and older provides hands-on outdoor learning opportunities in a non-threatening environment. The three-day event is the group's annual fundraiser for the National Wild Turkey Federation.
WITO officials say several instructors are returning this year, and there are a few new ones, as well as some new classes, including Dutch oven cooking, beekeeping, how to make baby moccasins, basket-weaving and more. Women can choose from 25 activities, or up to four sessions.
The group is preparing to send out registration packets. If you are returning and have a new email address, please be sure to update that information with Leann Bunn and get added to the email list. Please put “WITO registration” in the subject line. Bunn's email is Leann.bunn@travelok.com.
For more information, visit the group's website, www.tourtahlequah, or follow them on Facebook at “Women in the Outdoors - Tenkiller State Park,” where you can see the schedule of classes that will be offered, as well as view photos from previous events. You may also call Bunn at (918) 489-5025.
