Monday, January 23, 2023 - A winter storm watch goes into effect on Tuesday afternoon through late Tuesday night as a winter weather event is expected to make its way into the area.
"As of right now, it appears rain will start to move in tomorrow between 10 a.m. and noon before transitioning to a wintery mix. As we move into the evening hours, we will likely see a changeover to all snow, which could be heavy at times," Sequoyah County Emergency Management Deputy Johnathon Teague explained. "My advice to those who have to work tomorrow is to make sure they have a way to stay weather-aware during the workday."
Residents can expect travel to be impacted as they wake up Wednesday morning. Emergency management will be traveling throughout the county to provide updates on these impacts or delays created by the storm.
As officials track this system, they will be providing updates as changes occur. Updates can be found on the Sequoyah County Emergency Management Facebook page or by signing up for Nixle alerts at www.nixle.com.
