Thursday, July 8, 2021 - A Wednesday evening tragedy claimed the lives of the wife and daughter of Vian Town Administrator Keith Boshers.
Tracy Boshers, 48 and Karli Boshers, 21, were killed in a single-vehicle accident at approximately 7:22 p.m.. Wednesday, according to an Arkansas State Police accident report.
The report states that Tracy Boshers was driving a 2000 Ford Excursion west on Interstate 40, near mile marker 18 in Crawford County, Ark., when the vehicle experienced tire failure and lost control. The SUV overturned several times after entering the median and came to rest in the eastbound lanes.
The Boshers' minor son and granddaughter were also seriously injured in the accident. Both were initially transported to Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith. Reports indicate that they were both later transported to other hospitals. Their current condition is unknown.
The group was returning from a family beach vacation. Keith Boshers had been with the family but had flown home on Friday.
Vian Mayor Dennis Fletcher stated that he had been in contact with Boshers and the extended family. "They are in shock right now but are leaning on their faith," Mayor Fletcher said.
"Vian is a close community and we will do what we always do in times of tragedy and come together," Fletcher added. "We are going to wrap our arms around this family, and do what we do."
Keith Boshers also served as the town's fire chief.
Funeral arrangements have not been made at this time.
