Wanted Suspect Arrested in Connection with July Shooting in Sallisaw

Wednesday, August 13, 2025 — Authorities have arrested a man wanted in connection with a late-July shooting that left one person injured.
On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at approximately 11:45 a.m., agents with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the United States Marshals Service located and arrested Todd Smith, 63, without incident.
Smith was sought in connection with a July 27 altercation at a residence in the 700 block of North Maple, during which a victim sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was treated at a hospital and released shortly after the incident.
Following a joint investigation by the Sallisaw Police Department, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, and U.S. Marshals Service, Smith was taken into custody and transported to the Sequoyah County Jail. He was booked on multiple charges, including:
· Feloniously pointing a firearm
· Assault and battery with a deadly weapon
· Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
The Sallisaw Police Department expressed appreciation to the community for its assistance and cooperation during the investigation.
