Voter Registration Deadline Approaches

Tuesday, July 7, 2026 —Sequoyah County Election Board Secretary Ruby Brunk recently announced that July 31 is the last day to apply for voter registration in order to be eligible to vote in the August 25 Runoff Primary and Special Sallisaw School Board Election.

Brunk stated, “Individuals who are United States citizens, residents of Oklahoma, and at least 17½ years old are eligible to apply for voter registration. However, voters must be at least 18 years old to cast a ballot.”

Applications must be received by the Sequoyah County Election Board or postmarked no later than midnight on July 31. Applications postmarked after that date will be accepted but will not be processed until after the August 25 election. Applications may also be submitted to any motor vehicle agency that serves as an official voter registration agency by the registration deadline.

Applicants will be notified by mail once their application has been processed. Approved applicants will receive a voter identification card. Others may receive a letter explaining why their application could not be approved.

“Anyone who does not receive a response within 30 days of submitting an application should contact the County Election Board office,” Brunk added.

The Sequoyah County Election Board reminds voters that applications must be approved by the secretary of the county election board before an individual is eligible to vote.

Registered voters who have moved to Sequoyah County from another county or state must complete and submit a new voter registration application to update their registration. New applicants may register online through the Oklahoma Voter Portal at oklahoma.gov/elections/ovp. A current and valid Oklahoma driver's license or state-issued ID is required to complete online registration.

Voter registration applications may also be downloaded from oklahoma.gov/elections or obtained from the Sequoyah County Election Board. Applications are also available at most tag agencies, post offices, and public libraries.

Voters who have moved within Sequoyah County and need to update their address may do so through the Oklahoma Voter Portal or by completing a paper application for voter registration.

The Sequoyah County Election Board is located at 110 E. Creek Ave. and is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information, contact the Election Board at 918-775-2614 or sequoyahcounty@elections.ok.gov.
