Wednesday, January 7, 2026 — January 16 is the last day to apply for voter registration to be eligible to vote in the February 10 board of education primary and City of Sallisaw election, according to Sequoyah County Election Board Secretary Ruby Brunk.
Brunk stated, “Individuals who are United States citizens, residents of Oklahoma, and at least 17 and a half years old are eligible to apply for voter registration. However, voters must be at least 18 years old to vote.”
Applications must be received by the County Election Board or postmarked no later than midnight on January 16. Applications postmarked after that time will be accepted but will not be processed until after the February 10 election. Applications may also be submitted by the deadline to any motor vehicle agency that serves as an official voter registration agency.
Applicants will be notified in writing once their application has been processed. Approved voters will receive a voter identification card by mail. Some applicants may receive a letter explaining why their application was not approved. “Anyone who does not receive a response within 30 days of applying should contact the County Election Board office immediately,” Brunk added.
The Sequoyah County Election Board reminds voters that applications must be approved by the County Election Board Secretary to vote.
Registered voters who have moved to Sequoyah County from another county or state must complete a new voter registration application to be eligible to vote in Sequoyah County elections. Voters who have moved within the county and need to update their address may do so online through the OK Voter Portal at oklahoma.gov/elections/ovp or by completing a voter registration application.
Voter registration applications can be downloaded from the State Election Board website at oklahoma.gov/elections. Applications are also available at the County Election Board office, as well as at most post offices, tag agencies, and public libraries upon request.
The Sequoyah County Election Board is located at 110 E. Creek Ave. and is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information, contact the Election Board at 918-775-2614 or email sequoyahcounty@elections.ok.gov.
