Vian's Downtown in December taking place tonight

Thursday, December 8, 2022 - The Vian Community Foundation is hosting the 5th annual "Downtown in December" Christmas event tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will take place along Main Street in downtown Vian and will be sure to get you in the holiday spirit.

Event organizer Lyndsey Sullivan said, "We are excited to be hosting the annual Downtown in December event once again this year."

There is no cost to attend this fun-filled evening of activities due to the generosity of local donors and sponsors.

"This year’s main sponsors include the Vian Community Foundation, Armstrong Bank, Sallisaw Cherokee Casino, and the town of Vian, along with several other generous sponsors," Sullivan said.

Music will fill the streets throughout downtown Vian while attendees enjoy hot cocoa, popcorn, cotton candy, hot dogs, drinks, and freshly melted s’mores made over open fires.

Families will have the opportunity to take pictures in an onsite photo booth; animal lovers can pet their favorite animals at the petting zoo; and children will get the chance to go on a pony ride.

In addition, there will be live reindeer, carriage and train rides, the Grinch, and, of course, we can’t forget about Santa!

Once again, the Vian PTO will be handing out coats and books during the event, along with the Vian Methodist Church, which will be handing out toys.

So, head out tonight for some good Christmas fun at Vian’s Downtown in December.
