Recognizing the service and sacrifice of those who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces is a meaningful way for communities to come together and express appreciation.
Communities big and small within Sequoyah County are excited to display their pride for veterans on Monday, November 11, with ceremonies, assemblies, lunches, and more.
The Carnie Welch American Legion Post 27 Veterans Day program will be held at 11 a.m. at ICTC in Sallisaw, featuring a flag retirement ceremony and guest speaker Senator Warren Hamilton.
Gore Public Schools invites the public to their 27th annual Veterans Day celebration at 10 a.m. in the Event Center, with lunch provided afterward for veterans and a guest.
Liberty Public School (North of Roland) is hosting a Veterans Day program on Monday, November 11th, at 9:00 a.m. in the Ransom Activity Center.
Moffett School will hold a Veterans Day ceremony at 10 a.m., which will include a program by students, a slideshow, and a special lunch following the ceremony.
The Muldrow Cherokee Community Center will host its first Veterans Day Pancake Breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., offering pancakes, sausage, and eggs at no cost.
Muldrow Public Schools will hold their annual Veterans Day Parade at 1:30 p.m. beginning at the Muldrow Fire Station, passing schools, and ending near the high school. Veterans are invited to participate, with the lineup at 1:15 p.m. on SE 1st Street.
Roland Public Schools will host a Veterans Day Assembly at 10 a.m. in the Ranger Dome. All community members and veterans with their families are welcome. Following the assembly, a complimentary lunch will be served in the middle school cafeteria.
Sallisaw Schools will have a middle and high school assembly starting at 9 a.m. with reserved seating for veterans and their families at 8:30 a.m. Eastside Elementary will host "A Tribute to Our Veterans" with two performances at 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Vian Public School will host a Veterans Day Assembly at 9:30 a.m. in the school cafeteria. Breakfast will be served for veterans in the Vo-Ag building starting at 8:30 a.m.
These gatherings provide an opportunity for the community to express gratitude and reflect on the sacrifices of veterans and their families. If you see a veteran out in the community, remember that a simple “Thank you for your service" can go a long way.
