Thursday, November 9, 2023 - Recognizing the service and sacrifice of those who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces is a meaningful way for communities to come together and express appreciation.

The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) will be offering free admission for all veterans and a guest to the first round of the Oklahoma high school football playoffs this year. Simply show your military ID card or driver's license that shows your military status at the gate on Friday, and you and a guest will be admitted free of charge.

On Saturday, November 11 the City of Sallisaw will host their annual Veterans Day Ceremony. The event begins at 11 a.m. and will be held at the Sequoyah County Fairgrounds.

These events not only provide an opportunity for the community to express gratitude but they also create a sense of unity and support for those who have sacrificed for their country.

If you see a veteran out in the community, remember that a simple “Thank you for your service" can go a long way.
