Wednesday, November 10, 2021 - Veteran’s Day is recognized each year on November 11, in many unique ways. Maybe you like to show your respect by volunteering at a local veterans' organization, maybe you attend ceremonies within your community, or maybe you’re a teacher and prepare lesson plans to teach youth the meaning behind this day. Regardless of how you celebrate, there is one commonality. It’s a day we say thank you for the bravery, sacrifices, and love our veterans have given to their country.
Below is a list of events in our area that are being held November 11 to honor our veterans.
The American Legion Post 27 and the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce will hold their 2021 Veterans Day Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. The ceremony will be held at the Sequoyah County fairgrounds on East Redwood Street and will include a flag retirement ceremony, the posting of colors, music, and much more. Frank Sullivan III will be the Master of Ceremonies and will be Introducing the guest speaker, US Air Force Lt. Col. Casey Eubanks, commanding officer of the 123rd Intel Squadron. Anyone that wishes to dedicate a flag in honor of a deceased loved one should arrive by 10:15 a.m. to provide their information. The first 25 names submitted will be used. Everyone is welcome to come and honor our veterans.
