Wednesday, April 19, 2023 - Spring is finally here, bringing warmer temperatures and longer days, which has many ready to get out doors to soak up some rays. If this describes you, then you're in luck!
The Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce and Sallisaw Main Street have a wide range of activities planned for the 2023 annual Diamond Daze Festival.
The festival is set to take place on May 5 and 6 in downtown Sallisaw and will provide a little bit of something for everyone, regardless of age.
This year’s event will feature a city-wide yard sale, a car show, a half marathon, 5K and fun run, food trucks, live entertainment, bounce houses, over 100 vendor booths, and more.
The Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting vendor applications at no charge for non-profits or arts and crafts vendors. Food trailers are also welcome to join in the festivities for a $50 fee.
If you are interested in becoming a vendor, make sure to stop by the Chamber office and pick up your application soon. The deadline to submit vendor applications is Monday, April 24.
In addition, the town’s best pit masters will be competing for the coveted title of Sallisaw Main Street BBQ champion. The winner not only receives bragging rights for the year but will also receive cash prizes.
Prizes include: 1st place: $200, 2nd place: $150, 3rd place: $100, and 4th place: $50. A people’s choice award is also up for grabs, with the winner receiving $200 plus a large trophy.
A new category for appetizers has been added to this year's event, with the winner taking home $100 and the runner-up receiving $50. Awards will be presented to all BBQ and appetizer winners at approximately 2 p.m. Saturday.
Sallisaw Main Street is currently looking for teams to compete in the BBQ cook-off. Entry forms can be picked up during business hours at either the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce or Sallisaw Main Street office.
So load up the family and bring out your lawn chairs for food, fun, and more at this year’s Downtown Diamond Daze festival.
