Upcoming Local Blood Drives Seek Community Support

Wednesday, April 8, 2026 — Oklahoma Blood Institute officials are encouraging Sequoyah County residents to roll up their sleeves this April as two community partners prepare to host local blood drives.

The first drive will take place at Cherokee Nation Casino in Sallisaw on Friday, April 17, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the casino conference room.

A second opportunity to donate will follow next week, as People Inc. hosts a blood drive on April 24 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event will be held at the People Inc. Conference Center, located at 205 S. JT Stites Blvd. in Sallisaw.

As a thank-you, all donors will receive a “Get Your Sticks on Route 66” T-shirt.

Blood donation continues to play a critical role in saving lives. According to OBI, one donation can save up to three people, supporting patients facing surgeries, trauma, chronic illnesses, and cancer treatments. Donating also provides community members with a free mini-health screening, helps maintain stable blood supplies across the state, and ensures hospitals have what they need during emergencies.

Organizers encourage anyone who can donate to participate in one of the upcoming drives and help strengthen the local blood supply.
