Two Sequoyah County teens hospitalized after separate ATV accidents


Thursday, December 23, 2021 - Two Sequoyah County teens were injured in separate ATV accidents on Wednesday, December 22. Both were 14-year-old male juveniles.


The first accident occurred at 3:27 p.m. on private property near Muldrow.


According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), the teen was driving a 2009 Honda Forman ATV in an open field on a trail when he departed the trail to the north, rolled the ATV one time and was thrown from the machine.


The teen was transported by Air Evac to St Francis Children’s Hospital in Tulsa with lower leg injuries.


The second accident occurred at 7:18 p.m. on East 1060 Rd, 1 mile south of 4670 Rd in Sallisaw.


According to the OHP, the teen was driving a Suzuki ATV 4-wheeler westbound on East 1060 Rd when he departed the roadway to the left hitting a tree.


He was transported by Life Flight to St. Frances Children’s Hospital and admitted in critical condition with head injuries.


The Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office, Maple Fire and Pafford EMS assisted the OHP at the scenes.
