Three seriously injured in Sunday wreck


Sunday, March 19, 2023 - Three Sequoyah County residents were seriously injured in an early morning wreck Sunday.


According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) report, the collision occurred at approximately 1:29 a.m. on US-64 and 4570 Road, approximately four miles west of Sallisaw.


The report states that Ryan Sandmeyer, 38, of Vian was driving a 2008 Honda Accord south on 4570 Road when he failed to yield at a stop sign and struck a 2017 Dodge Charger driven by Leslie Clark, 53, of Sallisaw.


Sandmeyer was transported by Life Flight to Saint Francis in Tulsa where he was admitted in critical condition with head injuries.

Clark was transported by Pafford EMS to Baptist Hospital in Fort Smith where she was admitted in guarded condition with trunk internal injuries.


A passenger in Clark's vehicle, Christopher Clark, 53, of Sallisaw was transported by First Flight to Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith where he was admitted in critical condition with head and trunk internal injuries.

Seatbelts were in use in both vehicles.


OHP was assisted at the scene by members of the McKey Fire Department, Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office, Pafford EMS, Life Flight and First Flight.
