The Rural Communities Initiative Foundation to Host "The Gathering on Polecat Creek" September 13

Wednesday, September 3, 2025 – The Rural Communities Initiative Foundation (RCIF) will host "The Gathering on Polecat Creek" on Saturday, September 13, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the RCIF Community Center on Highway 101.

The daylong celebration will feature food and drink vendors, arts and crafts booths, family activities, and indoor games, with something for all ages to enjoy. Smokey the Bear will also make a special appearance during the event.

Outdoor tournaments begin at 10 a.m., including both horseshoe and cornhole contests. Entry fees are $10 for singles and $20 for doubles teams. Pre-registration opens at 9 a.m. the morning of the event, or participants may sign up in advance by messaging RCIF on Facebook.

Inside the community center, guests can enjoy Indian tacos with a drink for $10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., a cake walk from 12 to 1:30 p.m. ($3 per round), and a prize walk from 1:30 to 3 p.m. ($3 per round).

The main event kicks off at 5 p.m. with Native American Wrestling, leading into the event's raffle drawing. A Savage Axis XP rifle will be raffled off during the wrestling intermission at approximately 6 p.m. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20, and will be sold throughout the day. Winners must be present to claim the prize.

Vendor opportunities remain open. Arts and crafts booths are $10 per table, while food and drink vendor spaces are $25 (note: no Indian Taco vendors will be accepted). Electricity is available, though vendors should bring their own extension cords. Payment can be made on the day of the event, but vendors are encouraged to reserve spaces in advance by texting 918-649-4216 with their details.
