Monday, October 5, 2026 — Oklahoma students are invited to put their creativity to work in the annual Keep Our Land Grand Art Contest, with this year’s theme focusing on an important message: Teamwork!

The contest encourages students to create original artwork promoting litter prevention and showing how working together can help keep Oklahoma beautiful.

The contest is open to students from kindergarten through 12th grade, with county and statewide competitions available for several grade levels. There are also statewide-only categories for a calendar cover and postcard.

Students must complete an entry form, including a parent or guardian signature, and attach it to the back of their artwork. Entries should be submitted to the Sequoyah County Commissioners’ office.

Artwork must be 8.5 inches by 11 inches in landscape format and should be colorful, easy to read, positive and focused on litter prevention. Students may use crayons, markers, pens, pencils, pastels, watercolors or acrylic paint.

All artwork must be original. The contest does not allow AI-generated artwork, clipart, computer-generated art, collages, glitter, glue or other attached materials. Brand names, cartoon characters, company or sports logos, college or university logos and copyrighted images are also prohibited. Students should not put their names, school names or the year on the front of their artwork.

The contest ends Oct. 30, 2026, and all artwork must be submitted to the Sequoyah County Commissioners’ Office by that date.

In November, Sequoyah County Commissioners will judge the entries and recognize first-, second- and third-place winners in each grade category with certificates. County winners will advance to the statewide competition in December.

Statewide judging will take place at the beginning of the following year, with winners selected in each grade category, along with the calendar cover and postcard categories. Statewide winners will be notified in February and recognized at an awards luncheon in March.

The contest gives students an opportunity to use their creativity to promote an important message: everyone can work together to prevent litter and help keep Oklahoma clean.

Students interested in participating can obtain entry forms and the complete contest rules by contacting Brandi Chandler at the Sequoyah County Commissioners’ Office at 918-775-5539.
