Strayhorn Marina hosts second annual Polar Plunge

Friday, December 31, 2021 - Strayhorn Marina at Tenkiller Lake would like to invite everyone out to their second annual Polar Plunge on New Year’s Day 2022.

A Polar Plunge is an event where brave individuals come together during the winter to jump into a body of cold water. These events are typically held as fundraisers, but Strayhorn Marina is hosting this event at no cost.

Raegan King, spokesperson for Strayhorn Marina, said, "We held our first plunge last year without publicizing or creating an event on social media. Afterwards, we posted pictures and received tons of messages from people wishing they had known. That is when we decided to make this an annual event."

There is no registration fee or charge for participation. "Just show up at the marina dock at 1 p.m. on New Year’s Day and start working up the courage to jump," King added.

Even if you don’t want to take a dip, the marina encourages you to come out, watch and cheer on those who are taking the plunge.

King said, "Our goal as a marina is to be a place for fun family memories to be made and we decided there was no reason to limit that to only summer memories."

Strayhorn Marina at Tenkiller is located at 446547 E. 965 Rd., Gore. For additional information, call 918-487-5178.
