
Tuesday, January 25, 2022 - An unnamed 17-year-old juvenile white female perished after a two-vehicle accident Tuesday in Adair County.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), the accident occurred at approximately 4 p.m., four miles west of Stilwell.
The OHP report states that the juvenile was driving a 2006 Ford Fusion when she turned eastbound onto State Highway 51 from South 4664 Road in front of another vehicle. She was struck by a 2010 Ford F350 driven by Paul Burson, 70, of Welling.
The juvenile was pronounced deceased at the scene from head injuries by Pafford EMS.
Burson was transported by Pafford EMS to NHS Hospital in Tahlequah then later transferred to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was admitted in stable condition with head and trunk external injuries.
The OHP was assisted by the Adair County Sheriff's Department, Stilwell Fire and Rescue and the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service.
