Thursday, January 2, 2026 — As many families set healthy goals for the new year, Sequoyah State Park is offering plenty of opportunities to get moving, enjoy fresh air, and reconnect with nature through a full schedule of January Nature Center events.
Throughout January, guided hikes of varying lengths and difficulty levels are scheduled nearly every week, making it easy for participants of all ages and fitness levels to take part. Trails include Bluebird, Whispering Pines, Hackberry Gap, Deer Run, Fitness Trail, Fossil Loop, Sequoyah Paved Trail, and Three Forks.
In addition to hikes, the Nature Center has added an educational element to the park with snake feeding demonstrations scheduled for January 4 and January 18, giving visitors an up-close encounter with wildlife.
One highlight of the month is the Annual First Month Hike Challenge, which encourages visitors to hike every trail in the park, guided or independently. Those who complete the challenge will receive a special decal from the Nature Center.
With a focus on movement, mindfulness, and outdoor exploration, Sequoyah State Park is the perfect destination, providing a healthy and enjoyable way to start the new year strong.
