Friday, June 23, 2023 - Towns throughout Sequoyah County are gearing up for several exciting Independence Day celebrations. We have compiled a roundup of events that will be taking place in the area.
Marble City kickstarts the area's festivities with a 4th of July celebration on Saturday, June 24. Activities will get underway at 7 p.m. in downtown Marble City, offering food, fun, and live entertainment. A special Veterans ceremony will take place at 8 p.m., paying tribute to those who have served.
Roland's annual Iron Mountain Festival and Freedom Celebration will be held July 1 at Roland Park, starting at 4 p.m. The festival features vendors, inflatables, children's activities, food trucks, and live entertainment throughout the afternoon and evening.
Vian is hosting their annual 4th of July festivities on Saturday, July 1, at Vian High School's St. John Football Stadium. The event will commence around 8 p.m. and include the recognition of "Our Favorite Sons and Daughters". Individuals being recognized include Gary and Joan Barnoskie, Isaac and Courtney Barnoskie, Dee Everett, Sheari Drew Roark, and Steve and Camille Carlton.
Muldrow’s VFW Auxiliary has organized a free meal and games for Tuesday, July 4. The fun is set to take place at the Muldrow VFW from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will be followed by a fireworks display at dusk.
Sallisaw's 4th of July celebration will take place on Tuesday, July 4, at Sallisaw High School. The fireworks show will light up the sky at dark. Prior to the show, the Pastoral Alliance is hosting games and activities for the kids, and a variety of food trucks will be on site. Free hot dogs will be served on a first-come, first-served basis beginning around 5:30 p.m. or 6 p.m. The Mix will be on hand playing festive, patriotic music.
The Greater Tenkiller Area Association (GTAA) puts on a spectacular fireworks display over the lake each 4th of July. This year, the show is set to begin after sunset, once darkness settles over the lake.
