Friday, June 13, 2025 - The Sequoyah County OSU Extension Office is gearing up for an exciting summer filled with hands-on learning opportunities for local 4-H youth. With several workshops planned throughout June and July, the Extension team aims to spark curiosity, build new skills, and bring together 4-H members from across the county. But to make it all happen, they need a few more participants to sign up.
The summer workshop series kicks off with ATV Safety on June 23, a program designed especially for older 4-H members. This interactive session focuses on safe handling and operation of all-terrain vehicles, a vital topic for many rural youth. However, at least six participants are needed for the State 4-H Office to bring the program to Sequoyah County.
Next on the schedule is the Terrarium & Dish Garden Workshop, set for June 24. Participants will learn how to create their own miniature garden, combining creativity and science in a take-home project that brings nature indoors.
On July 1, the county is hoping to host a STEM Workshop led by a state-level specialist. This exciting, hands-on session promises to deliver engaging activities that explore science, technology, engineering, and math. But there's a catch: The Extension Office needs at least 15 youth signed up to make it happen.
Finally, on July 8, the Rockets & Robotics workshop will take off, literally. Youth will dive into the world of engineering and technology by launching rockets and working with basic robotics. It’s a thrilling opportunity to see how science can come to life through hands-on experimentation.
Extension staff encourage families to act quickly, especially if their child is even slightly interested in attending.
To RSVP, learn workshop times, or get more information about any of the summer 4-H workshops, families can contact the Sequoyah County OSU Extension Office at 918-775-4838.
