Sequoyah County Junior Livestock Show Returns February 4-6

Thursday, January 29, 2026 — The 61st annual Sequoyah County Junior Livestock Show will take place Wednesday, February 4, through Friday, February 6, at the Sequoyah County Fairgrounds in Sallisaw.

The show highlights the hard work and dedication of local FFA and 4-H students and provides opportunities for youth to gain experience in animal husbandry, leadership, and responsibility. All animals will be weighed and sifted between 9 a.m. and 12 noon on the day of their respective check-ins.

Activities begin Wednesday, February 4, with check-in for sheep, goats, and cattle from 9 a.m. to noon. A Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce membership meeting will be held at noon at the fairgrounds, with FFA and 4-H students serving as the program.

Livestock shows begin at 5 p.m. on Wednesday and include doe goats, wether goats, lambs, heifers, and steers, along with corresponding sale orders. Goat, sheep, and beef showmanship competitions will also be held. Exhibitors must show their animals to be eligible for showmanship.

Thursday, February 5, will feature swine check-in from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by the 4-H Impressive Dress Contest at 10 a.m. Swine events beginning at 5 p.m. include the breeding gilt jackpot, market barrows, barrow sale order, and swine showmanship.

The show concludes Friday, February 6, with the bidders' barbecue scheduled for 6 p.m., followed by the premium auction at 7 p.m. Auctioneer Tommy Wright will conduct the 2026 auction with judges for cattle, goats, sheep, and swine to be announced at a later date.

The Sequoyah County Junior Livestock Show remains a cornerstone event for local youth, offering scholarship opportunities, community support, and a chance to celebrate agricultural education and achievement.
