Sequoyah County Gears Up for a September Full of Fairs, Festivals, and Community Events

Monday, September 1, 2025 - September is here, and Sequoyah County is buzzing with activities ranging from fairs and giveaways to pet clinics, rodeo action, and one of Oklahoma’s most popular fall festivals. Residents can look forward to a month packed with opportunities to connect, give back, and

celebrate.


Sequoyah County Fair—September 4–6

The Sequoyah County Fair returns September 4–6 at the fairgrounds, offering three days of exhibits, competitions, and family fun. Thursday kicks off with indoor exhibit check-ins and the 4-H Food Showdown. Friday includes judging, with exhibits open to the public from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday is the busiest day, featuring livestock check-ins, the 4-H Cupcake Wars, and the popular Livestock Show beginning at noon. Showmanship events will follow, open to youth, peewees, and even alumni.


Old Sallisaw High School Association “New 2 You Sale”—September 5–6

Bargain hunters won’t want to miss the OSHSA’s annual “New 2 You Sale,” happening Friday and Saturday, September 5–6, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Black Diamond Event Center in Sallisaw. Shoppers can browse clothing, shoes, furniture, toys, school supplies, collectibles, home décor, and more, with proceeds supporting the association’s mission.


Sallisaw Church of Christ Annual Community Giveaway—September 13

On Saturday, September 13, the Sallisaw Church of Christ will host its Annual Community Giveaway from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Family Center on East Choctaw. Items will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with everything from clothing and shoes for all ages to furniture (limit one piece per family), toys, and household goods. Transportation for furniture pickup will not be provided.


Free Microchipping and Vaccination Clinic—September 13

The Sallisaw Animal Care Facility and Sequoyah Animal Advocates are teaming up to host a free pet microchipping and vaccination clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sallisaw Creek Park. Proof of residency allows city residents to receive free microchipping, while non-residents can access the service for $10. Free rabies, DAPP (for dogs), and FVRCP (for cats) vaccinations will also be available, along with prizes and giveaways.


“Ride Against Suicide” Rodeo Ranch Event—September 13

Also on September 13, the Garrison Creek Arena in Muldrow will host the “Ride Against Suicide” Rodeo Ranch event at 7 p.m. Teams of four will compete in events like branding, doctoring, double muggin’, and trailer loading, all while raising awareness for suicide prevention. Alongside the rodeo action, attendees can enjoy a barbecue dinner, silent auction, and vendor booths. Mental health providers are encouraged to set up free booths to share resources, while other vendor spots are available for $25. The theme for the evening is “Some Days We All Need a Pickup Man.”


56th Annual Fin & Feather Fall Festival—September 26–28

Closing out the month, the 56th Annual Fin & Feather Fall Festival is set for September 26–28 at Fin & Feather Resort. With more than 170 exhibitors, this beloved arts and crafts event draws thousands each year. Visitors can shop for handmade goods, enjoy live demonstrations, and take in the festive fall atmosphere.
