Friday, November 7, 2025 - Sequoyah County communities are preparing to honor the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces with a full lineup of Veterans Day events on Tuesday, November 11. Residents across the region will come together for ceremonies, parades, and school programs dedicated to showing appreciation for local veterans.

The day begins in Sallisaw with a Quilts of Valor presentation at 9 a.m. at ICTC, followed by the annual Veterans Program and Flag Dedication with the American Legion at 11 a.m. Also, in Sallisaw, the high school and middle school will host a joint Veterans Day program beginning at 9:30 a.m., with veterans and guests encouraged to arrive by 9 a.m. Eastside Elementary will honor veterans with programs at both 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

At 1 p.m., the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs will host a Veterans Day parade, with the lineup taking place on the west side of the ODVA Center.

Several county schools are also recognizing veterans with special activities. Braggs Public Schools will begin the day with a veteran’s breakfast at 7:45 a.m. for elementary students and 8:25 a.m. for secondary students, followed by a community assembly at 9 a.m. in the new gym. Moffett School will host its veteran’s ceremony and student-led program at 9 a.m.

In Gore, a Veterans Day Assembly is scheduled at 10 a.m. at the Gore Event Center. All veterans and a guest are invited to stay afterward for lunch with students as a gesture of gratitude.

Muldrow Public Schools will once again hold their popular Drive-Thru Veterans Day Parade at 1:30 p.m. The parade route will begin at the Muldrow Fire Station, continue past the elementary school, turn west at the stoplight, and proceed in front of the middle and high schools. Veterans are encouraged to take part in the caravan, with the lineup beginning at 1:15 p.m. on SE 1st Street. Community members are invited to line the route and wave as veterans pass by.

Across Sequoyah County, these events reflect a deep respect for those who have worn the uniform. Organizers encourage all residents to participate and help celebrate the courage, sacrifice, and service of our nation’s veterans.
