Sequoyah County Burn Ban Extended

Monday, September 14, 2026 - The Sequoyah County Commissioners approved extending the current burn ban for an additional two weeks during their weekly Monday meeting at the courthouse.

The extension comes as officials remain concerned about the increased potential for grass and wildfire fires due to the continued dry weather conditions across the county.

With conditions remaining dry, residents are being urged to avoid outdoor burning and use extreme caution with anything that could potentially cause a fire.

The burn ban will remain in effect for an additional 14 days; however, county officials will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
