Search underway for missing Marble City man

Wednesday, February 16, 2022 - Several law enforcement agencies are currently searching for a missing Marble City man.

Cody Dean Bryant

Cody Dean Bryant, 26, was last seen on February 9 when he reportedly left a friend's home near Marble City. Bryant left the home on-foot and has not been heard from since.

The FBI are in charge of the investigation due to Bryant being a tribal member, according to Sequoyah County Sheriff Larry Lane.

On Tuesday the FBI was in the Marble City area interviewing friends, family and those Bryant was last known to have had contact with.

A search is currently ongoing in the area of Wagon Wheel Road and Memorial Drive (the old Dump Road), south of Marble City.

Sheriff Lane stated that the FBI had requested the assistance of the Sequoyah County Mounted Search and Rescue team and that they are currently aiding in the search. The Cherokee Marshall service is on the scene utilizing drones to help search the wooded area. Sequoyah County deputies and Sequoyah County Emergency Management are also assisting.

Sequoyah County Undersheriff Charles House stated that a call was received by the sheriff's department on Wednesday, February 9 regarding a man exhibiting strange behavior walking along the road near Marble City. The witness reported that the man was waving his arms, shouting at traffic and laying near the road. Deputies arrived at the reported location within eight minutes but were unable to locate anyone. After Bryant was reported missing, it was determined that the description provided by the caller matched that of Bryant. The search is taking place near the area that the individual was spotted.

"We are in the beginning stages of the search," Sequoyah County Emergency Management Director Steve Rutherford said.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Bryant should call the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office at 918-775-9155 or the Cherokee Marshal Service at 918-207-3800.
