SCAM ALERT: Sheriff’s Office Warns of Phone Scam

ree

Tuesday, August 26, 2025 - The Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents about a phone scam targeting the community.

Authorities say callers are pretending to be Deputy Duwaine Chase, Badge #1892, and are telling people they must either come to the Sheriff’s Office for a DNA test or pay $2,000.

Sheriff’s officials stress this is a scam and remind residents that the office will never call to demand money or request payment over the phone.

Anyone who receives one of these calls is urged not to share personal information and to hang up immediately.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to remain cautious and to share this warning with others to help prevent further victims.
