Saturday, August 7, 2021 - Sarah Kay Lawson, 23, from Sallisaw, was struck and killed while walking early Saturday morning.
The accident occurred at 1:18 a.m. near US-59 and E 1050rd approximately 1 mile north of Sallisaw, according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).
Lawson was struck by a 2018 Dodge Journey driven by Samantha Miller, 28, of Stilwell.
Lawson was transported to NHS-Sequoyah hospital in Sallisaw where she was pronounced deceased at 1:45 a.m. due to massive injuries.
According to the OHP report, the cause of the accident, as well as the condition of both individuals, is under investigation.
OHP was assisted at the scene by Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office, Sallisaw Fire and Police Department and Pafford EMS.
