Monday, May 15, 2023 - A Sallisaw woman was arrested May 1 and charged with malicious injury to property – over $1,000, which is a felony, as well as resisting an officer, public intoxication and possession of a controlled dangerous substance, all misdemeanors.
Bronica Nicole Dawn Wilson, 32, could face up to two years in the State Penitentiary and/or a fine of up to $1,000 if she is convicted of the felony count.
At about 4 p.m. on May 1, the manager of a Sallisaw apartment complex called the sheriff’s office to report that there was a person outside screaming and yelling at tenants.
When officers arrived at the scene there were several females outside and one, later identified as Wilson, was yelling.
The apartment manager said Wilson was drunk and yelling after Smith had told her she needed to leave because she had previously trespassed on the property, according to court reports.
Wilson, still yelling, began to back away then, but she suddenly turned, forcing an officer to restrain her. During the pat down, however, an officer found a rolled marijuana cigarette, which was collected for evidence.
During the pat down and removal of her backpack, Wilson was erratic and slurring her words. She reportedly fell to the ground, got back up, then fell again. When the officers finally got Wilson to the patrol car, the woman slammed her head twice against the right rear passenger door.
She was eventually taken to the Sequoyah County Detention Center.
