Saturday, October 18, 2025 - Sallisaw residents will have the chance to clean up and clear out during the city’s Fall “Chunk Your Junk” Day, happening Saturday, October 25, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Sallisaw Electric Department.
To participate, residents must live within the Sallisaw city limits and present a current city utility bill at the time of disposal. City staff will be on-site to supervise and direct participants to the proper disposal areas.
All items being disposed of must originate from residential properties, be easily handled and hauled by one person, and be unloaded into the appropriate dumpsters.
Accepted items include bagged leaves, small plants, metal, wood or lumber, furniture, bedding, bundled cardboard, small appliances with coolant removed, and other small household materials.
However, some items will not be accepted, including brush, construction debris, shingles, commercial trash, hazardous waste, batteries, paint, oil, cooking oil, fuel, chemicals, and appliances that still contain refrigerant. Tires, heavy rubber materials, and any items requiring equipment or shovels to unload, such as rock or dirt, will also be turned away.
Residents are asked to bag items whenever possible and separate all metal materials. In addition, loads should fit into a normal half-ton truck bed or a trailer up to 16 feet long without side rails.
City officials encourage residents to take advantage of this opportunity to tidy up their properties before winter, noting that the event helps keep Sallisaw clean and beautiful while providing a safe and convenient way to dispose of unwanted household materials.

The Sallisaw Electric Department is located at 213 W. Quesenbury St.
