Sallisaw Prepares for Patriotic Celebration as Fireworks Show Relocates

Tuesday, June 9, 2026 — As the United States prepares to celebrate its 250th birthday on July 4, 2026, a longtime Independence Day tradition in Sallisaw will have a new home this year.

The annual Sallisaw Independence Day Fireworks Show, which has traditionally been held at Sallisaw High School, will move to the Sallisaw Sports Complex for the 2026 celebration. In addition to the location change, the event will be held on Sunday, July 5.

The fireworks display has been a staple of the community's Independence Day festivities for many years, drawing residents from across Sequoyah County and surrounding areas. This year's celebration carries additional significance as the nation marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, a milestone known as America's Semiquincentennial.

While the location is changing, organizers say attendees can still expect the same patriotic celebration that has become a summertime tradition in Sallisaw.

Additional details regarding event activities, parking information, and start times will be announced as the date approaches.
