Tuesday, June 17, 2025 — Local authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant after a string of vehicle burglaries occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 16, in the area surrounding Liberty Elementary School.
Multiple residents reported that their vehicles had been entered and rummaged through during the night. Authorities also believe that the town of Vian was similarly targeted around the same timeframe. While investigations are ongoing, early indications suggest that the incidents may be connected.
The Sallisaw Police Department is asking anyone who believes they may have been a victim or who has surveillance footage of suspicious activity or possible suspects to contact them immediately.
Residents are reminded to take the following safety precautions: remove key fobs and valuables from your vehicles, lock all doors and windows, even when parked in driveways or near homes, and report suspicious activity as soon as it occurs.
Law enforcement agencies are working together across jurisdictions to investigate the incidents and identify those responsible. Community cooperation is key to preventing further occurrences and bringing those responsible to justice.
For more information or to report relevant footage or information, please get in touch with the Sallisaw Police Department.
