Sallisaw Police Department Announce the Return of Halloween on Elm Street

Wednesday, September 23, 2026 –  Sallisaw families will once again have a safe and festive place to celebrate Halloween as Halloween on Elm Street returns to downtown Sallisaw on Saturday, October 31, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Sallisaw Chief of Police John Owens announced the annual event earlier today, inviting children and families from throughout the community to come downtown for an evening of trick-or-treating, costumes, and Halloween fun.

Elm Street, between Cherokee and Chickasaw, will be closed to traffic during the event, creating a safe area for children to walk from booth to booth and collect candy. Sallisaw police officers will also be on hand throughout the evening to help keep the event safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Businesses, churches, civic groups, and local organizations will transform Elm Street with decorated booths and plenty of treats for children in costume. Organizations participating in the event may begin setting up between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. and are asked to provide their tables, chairs, decorations, and plenty of candy to share.

The Mix 105.1 will also broadcast live from Elm Street, playing Halloween music, distributing candy, and celebrating the community's most creative costumes.

With downtown Sallisaw filled with costumes, candy, music, and decorated booths, Halloween on Elm Street is once again expected to bring families together for a fun-filled evening of community Halloween spirit.
