Sallisaw NOW Coalition to Host International Overdose Awareness Day Proclamation

Saturday August, 29 2026 — The Sallisaw NOW Coalition will host a proclamation signing on Monday, August 31, at 2 p.m. in recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day. The event will take place at the Stanley W. Tubbs Memorial Library, located at 101 E. Cherokee Ave. in Sallisaw.

The proclamation is aimed at raising awareness about overdose, reducing the stigma surrounding substance use and overdose, and remembering the individuals and families whose lives have been affected or lost.

International Overdose Awareness Day is observed each year on August 31 and provides communities across the nation with an opportunity to remember those who have died from overdose, support those who have been affected, and promote conversations about prevention, treatment, and recovery.

The Sallisaw NOW Coalition encourages community members to attend and help show support for those impacted by overdose while working together to build greater awareness, compassion, and hope throughout the community.
