Sallisaw Mayor Ernie Martens proclaims October 28-31 as Red Ribbon Week

Sallisaw Mayor Ernie Martens proclaimed Oct. 28-Oct. 31 as "Red Ribbon Week" during a proclamation signing held outside of the Stanley Tubbs Memorial Library on Monday Oct. 28.

The proclamation signing, hosted by the Sallisaw NOW Coalition, was accompanied by the organization’s pledge to actively support Red Ribbon Week through various prevention initiatives.

Red Ribbon Week is an annual campaign held in October to promote drug-free lifestyles among young people and communities across the United States.

Schools, community organizations, and local governments participate in the initiative with various events, themed days, and educational programs to spread awareness about the importance of making healthy, substance-free choices.
