Sallisaw man killed in accident


Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021 - A Sallisaw man was pronounced dead on the scene of a single-vehicle-accident that occurred Wednesday.


According to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), Kyle Szalay, 36, of Sallisaw was driving a 2008 Ford Escape when he failed to negotiate a curve, departed the roadway and struck a pipe fence.


The accident occurred at an unknown time on East 1040 Rd, three-tenths of a mile west of US-59, one mile north of Sallisaw.


A passenger in the vehicle, Rhonda Carey, 38, of Park Hill was not injured.


Seatbelts were in use by Carey, but not by Szalay.

The report lists the cause of the accident as still under investigation.


The OHP was assisted at the scene by Pafford EMS
