Sunday, December 21, 2025 — Sallisaw Main Street took center stage last Wednesday as it was named the December Chamber Member of the Month during the Sallisaw Chamber membership luncheon. The recognition highlighted the organization’s long-standing commitment to revitalizing and beautifying downtown Sallisaw, a mission it has championed since its founding in 2004. With the support of the City of Sallisaw, generous sponsors, and dedicated volunteers, Sallisaw Main Street continues to lead the way in historic preservation, economic development, and community pride.
Attendees reflected on the visible work the group has accomplished, from sidewalk restorations along East Cherokee and North Oak, now lined with vintage-style lighting and brick edging, to storefront enhancements made possible through programs such as the Facade Grant and Brick Paver initiatives.
Beyond the infrastructure improvements, members noted that Sallisaw Main Street’s seasonal celebrations and family-friendly events have brought life and energy back to the heart of town, proving once again that when the downtown district thrives, the entire community benefits.

During the luncheon, the Chamber shifted focus toward the year ahead, announcing the newly elected 2025 Board Members. Tami Martin of Mallory Martin Funeral Services, Beth Mayo of the Sequoyah County Times, and Tim Foote of Lakeside RV Park will each bring their experience and leadership to the board as they begin their terms in the new year.
Festive touches were also present, thanks to the Sallisaw FFA students, who provided their blooming red poinsettias as door prizes during the luncheon. The poinsettias, offered as part of the organization’s seasonal fundraiser, filled the meeting room with Christmas spirit and served as a reminder of the many youth groups that support the Chamber’s efforts.
Gratitude was extended to this year's Leadership Students who served as judges for the 2025 Christmas Parade and holiday decorating contests. Parade judges included Trish Wall with the OSU Extension Office, Kaylee Griffin with the City of Sallisaw, and Kassandra Briggs from the Oklahoma Department of Health. Decorating judges were Krysten Henning with Onin Staffing, along with Jackie England and Ashley Myers of Cherokee Nation Career Services.
The luncheon offered more than announcements and awards; it served as a moment of appreciation for the many individuals and organizations working together to support Sallisaw’s growth. From volunteers and business leaders to students and educators, the event highlighted the shared dedication that continues to shape the community and its future.
