Wednesday, November 16, 2022 - A felony arrest warrant was issued Nov. 9 for a Sallisaw couple accused of child neglect.
Joshua Keith Wilson, 31, and Rachael Ellisor, 38, face up to life imprisonment in the Department of Corrections, a fine of up to $5,000 or both if they are convicted. Their bond was set at $10,000.
On Oct. 29, Sallisaw police officers were dispatched to the north parking lot of Cherokee Casino for a welfare check on a juvenile male.
Dispatch told the officers they had received a call about a young male running in and out of a white car in the parking lot without a shirt on and there were no adults around.
Using a flashlight, one of the deputies could see two children asleep in the car’s back seat. Shortly after, the officer saw a juvenile male with no shirt on coming out of the casino holding his mother’s hand.
When asked why she was inside the casino while her children were outside in the car, the woman said they had just come back from Texas and went into the casino to stretch their legs and play “a 20.” She stated that the children were asleep and they had locked the doors while they went into the casino to play.
