Tuesday, November 4, 2025 — A full season of holiday celebrations is just around the corner as the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce rolls out its lineup of community events for November and December.
The festivities begin in November with a collection of beloved community traditions. The annual Veterans Day Ceremony will take place on November 11 at 11 a.m. at the ICTC, honoring those who have served.
Next, the holiday shopping season officially kicks off with the Merchant’s Christmas Open House on November 15–16, when local businesses will offer special sales, refreshments, and new holiday merchandise for shoppers.
On November 20, families are invited to gather on the Stanley Tubbs Memorial Library lawn at 6 p.m. for the Christmas Lighting Ceremony, where the city’s holiday lights will be switched on for the season.
Santa will visit with children afterward at the GRDA Stage, helping spark the Christmas spirit.
The month will continue with a free Community Thanksgiving Dinner on November 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sallisaw Middle School, followed by the Main Street Holiday Market on November 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. along Oak Street and Pocket Park.
As December approaches, preparations are underway for one of Sallisaw’s most anticipated holiday traditions, the annual Christmas Parade. Set for Saturday, December 13, the parade will feature the theme “Christmas Through the Decades,” bringing nostalgic flair to the heart of downtown. Lineup will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Choctaw Street, with the parade stepping off at 6:30 p.m. Entries will be judged in three categories, including Business, Schools & School Organizations, and Churches & Nonprofits. All parade entry forms must be submitted to the Chamber office by Monday, December 8, at noon.
Residents and business owners are also encouraged to show their holiday pride in the annual decorating contests. Participating storefronts will be recognized for their festive creativity, while the “Deck the Yard” contest will highlight standout residential displays throughout the community. Entry forms for both decorating contests are due December 8, and judging will take place on December 15. Participants are asked to ensure their lights are turned on that evening so judges may view each display.
The 2025 holiday season will conclude with the Chamber Membership Luncheon on December 17 at First United Methodist Church, beginning at noon. A meal will be served for $10 per person, and the winners of the decorating contests and parade will be announced during the event.
The Chamber encourages residents, businesses, organizations, and visitors alike to take part in the festivities and help make Sallisaw shine bright this holiday season. Anyone seeking additional information or wishing to enter a contest or parade may contact the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce at 918-775-2558.
