Friday, June 27. 2025- Clif’s Pharmacy was recognized as the June Member of the Month during the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce monthly meeting held on Wednesday at the Sallisaw Masonic Lodge #120.
The story of Clif’s Pharmacy began in 1972, when Clif and Fran Meece moved to Sallisaw with their children, Lee Ann and Mike. Clif opened his first pharmacy inside a local retail chain store, where he worked for 25 years, becoming a trusted figure in the community. In 1997, he opened Clif’s Pharmacy at its current location on East Redwood, fulfilling a dream of operating an independent, hometown pharmacy.
Clif rarely missed a day of work, operating with a mix of compassion and professionalism that endeared him to generations of customers. Even after his passing in 2011, his legacy lived on through his children, both of whom followed in his footsteps as pharmacists. Today, Mike Meece, along with his wife Rachel, oversees daily operations, supported by a caring staff and Clif’s daughter Lee Ann.
Open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Clif’s Pharmacy continues to offer fast, friendly service, free in-town delivery, a full line of greeting cards, and the convenience of online refill options via their website and mobile app.
Announcements- As summer heats up, the City of Sallisaw is embracing the season with a calendar full of events aimed at bringing the community together. From patriotic celebrations to sweet summer socials and classic rodeo nights, there’s something for everyone. And while the focus is on fun, there’s also a heartfelt call to support local youth as the summer winds down.
The festivities begin with the annual Fourth of July celebration on Thursday, July 4, at the Sallisaw High School complex. From 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., area churches will host games, refreshments, and activities for all ages. As dusk settles in, the skies will light up with a spectacular fireworks display, marking Independence Day with a vibrant show of color and celebration.
Later in the month, Sallisaw Main Street invites the community to beat the heat at its annual Ice Cream Social on Monday, July 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Set on the lawn of the Stanley Tubbs Memorial Library, the event promises free ice cream, laid-back conversation, and the simple joy of gathering with neighbors in the heart of downtown.
Closing out July and kicking off August, the Sallisaw Lions Club Rodeo returns for three nights of excitement, running July 31 through August 2. Rodeo events begin at 8:00 p.m. each night, followed by live music performances. The annual rodeo parade will launch the festivities on Thursday, July 31, at 5:30 p.m., with the lineup starting at 5:00 p.m. in downtown Sallisaw.
While summer in Sallisaw is filled with fun, it's also a time for giving back. The Sequoyah County Boys & Girls Club is asking for community support to help provide lunches for club members during the final two weeks of summer programming. Since the school-based summer food program ends before the club's season concludes, there is a two-week meal gap that needs to be filled to ensure every child receives a nutritious lunch.
Those interested in helping can reach out to the club directly or contact Heather Silva with the Sallisaw NOW Coalition to coordinate donations or sponsor a meal.
