Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce Recognizes Local Business Leaders and Previews City Initiatives

Friday, March 27, 2026 — The Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce held its March membership meeting on Wednesday, bringing together local business leaders to share updates on upcoming events, initiatives, and opportunities for involvement.

During the meeting, the Chamber recognized Shannon Vann of Vann Insurance Agency as Member of the Month. Vann opened his State Farm Insurance Agency in Sallisaw on March 1, 1997, after a career in auto claims and agency training. His agency provides a broad range of insurance and financial services in Oklahoma and Arkansas. Vann, a 1986 graduate of Sallisaw High School, is also a registered investment advisor with State Farm Investment Management Corporation. He and his wife, Cheryl, have raised three children and are proud grandparents, awaiting the arrival of their third grandchild in May.

Members were reminded of upcoming Palm Sunday services at United Methodist Church on March 29 at 6 p.m., as well as Holy Week services at First Baptist Church, held daily from noon to 1 p.m., March 30 through April 3.

The Chamber also provided updates on several upcoming community events. Planning for the Diamond Daze Festival is underway, with sponsor letters distributed, vendor applications currently being accepted, and Main Street seeking teams to participate in the BBQ cookoff. Members also received information about the annual Miss Diamond Daze Pageant, as well as updates on the Spruce Up Sallisaw initiative and the upcoming Bassmaster Fishing Tournaments for both college and high school anglers.

Other community events highlighted included the Pawsitive Pets event organized by Main Street and the opening of the Sallisaw Farmers Market on Saturday, April 4.

The meeting concluded with a presentation from keynote speakers Shelby Ferguson and Zoe Brown of Olsson Engineering, a nationally recognized engineering and design consulting firm.

Ferguson and Brown provided an overview of the Comprehensive Master Plan, developed over the past eight months in collaboration with the community chamber and city staff. They shared insights on how the plan aims to enhance local infrastructure, community spaces, and overall growth strategies for Sallisaw.
