Catholic Charities has been a pillar of support in Sallisaw since it first opened its doors in 1975 on East Cherokee Street. Thanks to partnerships with the Cherokee Nation, United Methodist Church, and the OK Presbytery, the organization quickly expanded its services to those in need.
In 1990, Catholic Charities relocated to its current home on Denton Avenue. That year, the organization served 497 families. In 2024, the need for assistance has grown significantly, with Catholic Charities providing food and support to 6,784 families.
As Catholic Charities continues to expand its reach, the organization remains committed to helping even more individuals and families in the years to come.
The Chamber of Commerce also, celebrated the Sequoyah county’s FFA and 4-H students as they showcased their skills at the 60th Annual Jr. Livestock Show. The event took place from Wednesday, February 5, through Friday, February 7, at the Sequoyah County Fairgrounds in Sallisaw, highlighting the hard work and dedication of young agricultural leaders in the community.
