Roll Up Your Sleeves for "Dog Days of Summer" Blood Drive

Sunday, August 9, 2026 —The dog days of summer are here, and the Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) is encouraging the community to roll up their sleeves and help save lives.

The Dog Days of Summer Blood Drive will be held Friday, August 21, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the People Inc. Conference Center in Sallisaw.

The blood drive is open to the public, and community members are encouraged to bring along friends, family members, coworkers, or anyone who may be interested in becoming a blood donor.

As a thank-you for helping save lives, donors will receive a T-shirt, a Bloodhounds bandana, and their choice of a park ticket to Magic Springs, Frontier City, or Hurricane Harbor in Oklahoma City.

With summer activities in full swing, organizers are encouraging eligible donors to take some time to give back and help ensure local hospitals have the blood supplies they need.

Whether you're a regular donor or have never donated before, the Dog Days of Summer Blood Drive offers an opportunity to make a difference while enjoying a few summer perks along the way.

Mark your calendar for August 21 and bring a friend. Your donation could help save a life right here in our community.

People Inc.'s Conference Center is located at 210 N. J.T. Stites Blvd in Sallisaw.
