Roland's Boots & Badges blood drive set for Thursday

Monday, July 19, 2021 - Roland's first responders and the Oklahoma Blood Institute have scheduled their annual Boots & Badges blood drive, scheduled from 1:30-6 p.m. Thursday, July 22, in the parking lot of CV's Foods.

Those who give at Thursday's blood drive will save local lives, such as those firefighters and law enforcement officers save every day.

The OBI bloodmobile will be parked at CV's all afternoon and all donors will receive a special-edition Boots & Badges T-shirt and their choice of one free-entry voucher to Frontier City or Science Museum Oklahoma in Oklahoma City or two free-entry vouchers to Safari Joe’s H20 Water and Adventure Park in Tulsa, to be redeemed at yourbloodinstitute.org.

By giving blood at this drive, donors will show their support for the firefighters and law enforcement officers who serve their community.

“Roland’s first responders see the daily need for blood firsthand when the people they rescue require life-saving treatment,” said John Armitage, M.D., president and chief executive officer of the Oklahoma Blood Institute. “We can’t say enough about the service our police officers and firefighters provide, and we owe it to them to do our part in making sure blood is available in emergency situations.”

Appointments for the blood drive may be made by calling (877) 340-8777 or visiting obi.org.

Please take note of the following donation guidelines:

*16-year-old donors must weigh at least 125 pounds and provide signed parental permission

*17-year-old donors must weigh at least 125 pounds

*Donors 18 and older must weigh at least 110 pounds

*Donors must be 18 or older to receive a COVID-19 antibody test. This test has not been reviewed by the FDA and is not intended for diagnosis or treatment of COVID-19.
