Roland man hospitalized after fleeing scene of accident


Sunday, May 22, 2022 - On Friday, May 20, a two vehicle accident left one man hospitalized after he fled the scene of the collision.


The accident occurred about 7 p.m. Friday night on 4705 Rd., three miles north of Ok-101 and ten miles north of Muldrow.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) report, David Couch, 27, of Roland was driving a 2013 Nissan Altima when he failed to yield from a private drive. His vehicle was struck by a 2007 Ford Fusion driven by Ian Young, 32, of Fort Smith.


The OHP report states that Couch fled the scene of the accident but was located in the woods. He was then taken to Baptist Health in Fort Smith where he was admitted in good condition with trunk external injuries.


Young and a female passenger in his vehicle were not injured.

Couch was listed as being under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

The OHP were assisted at the scene by Pafford EMS, Sequoyah County Sheriff's Dept, and the Muldrow Fire Dept.
